Months of Dedication Culminate in the Sharing of Our Renewed Vision and Values
We are excited to unveil the refreshed Purpose, Vision, Mission, and Values of the Catholic Community Foundation of San Diego. These guiding statements are the result of thoughtful reflection and hard work of the Board of Trustees over the past several months. The goal was to re-invigorate the organization’s original statements, ensuring they resonate with the work we do in our community and remain relevant in today’s world.
This process has been a pivotal effort, not only to align ourselves with our core Catholic principles, but also to set a clear path forward at this time of transition. These foundational statements are central to our operations, offering clarity and guidance as we continue our work. By operationalizing our values, the Board has provided clear definitions of what it means to live out our Catholic principles. This gives us a tangible framework for action, allowing us to translate our values into everyday practices. The Board believes this clarity is imperative, as it enables both the Board and staff to make decisions and take actions that truly reflect our commitment to Catholic stewardship, service, leadership, and community.
Having these values defined ensures that we not only talk about our principles but embody them in the way we engage with our donors, partners, and the community. Whether through financial stewardship, service to those in need, or fostering community connections, these values now serve as actionable pillars that will guide us in fulfilling our mission, vision and purpose.
The completion of this work marks a significant milestone as we prepare to welcome new leadership in October. With these fresh guiding principles in place, we are equipped to embark on the next chapter of our organization’s journey.

- Catholic Principles: We commit to aligning our actions and decisions with the teachings of the Catholic Church, rooted in truth, love, and community. We pledge to conduct ourselves with integrity, honesty, and moral rectitude in all aspects of our work. Upholding the highest ethical standards is not only a professional obligation but also a reflection of our commitment to living out the Gospel values of truthfulness, fairness, and accountability.
- Stewardship: We embrace the responsibility to care for and nurture the gifts and resources entrusted to us by our donors. Stewardship reflects our recognition that all we possess ultimately belongs to God, and we are called to manage and safeguard these resources with wisdom, integrity, and generosity. We strive for excellence in financial management, seeking to maximize the impact of every donation and resource entrusted to us for the greater good of our community.

We aim to serve our donors, fund holders, grantees, business partners, and community members, including the most vulnerable and marginalized members of San Diego.
