An Important Update – April 30, 2024

The Catholic Community Foundation of San Diego (CCFSD) has announced the departure of its CEO, Manny Rubio, effective at the end of May 2024. Rubio, who has served in this role for the past three years, will be leaving the organization to pursue other professional opportunities, according to Mark Neilson, Board Chair of CCFSD.

Founded in 2015 with the aim of becoming the recognized leader of Catholic philanthropy in San Diego and Imperial counties, CCFSD has provided a means for individuals and organizations to contribute to the long-term financial stability of various Catholic entities in the region, including parishes, missions, schools, agencies, and nonprofit organizations. CCFSD is one of nearly 100 Catholic community foundations in the nation and serves independently of the local Diocese and with its own board of trustees.

Following the retirement of the founding executive director, Gary Rectenwald, in 2021, Rubio took on the leadership mantle at CCFSD. Under his guidance, the organization has continued its mission of fostering philanthropy within the Catholic community and throughout the San Diego Region.

The Board of Directors will now initiate a search for an executive director to lead CCFSD into its next phase of growth and service. Individuals interested in learning more about the transition or the organization’s future plans are encouraged to contact Katie Sharra at ksharra@ccfsd.org.

CCFSD expresses gratitude to Manny Rubio for his contributions during his tenure and wishes him success in his future endeavors.
